42CrMo4 is a steel for quenching and tempering, which has a good combination of strength and toughness in the quenched and tempered condition. After the oil quenching, the steel will be through hardened up to ø60 mm bar diameter. 42CrMo4 steel round 42CrMo4 forging steel 42CrMo4 1.722542CrMo4 bars are heated at 845°C followed by quenching in oil. Before hardening, it can be normalized by heating at 913°C for a long period of time followed by air cooling. Forging 42CrMo4 is forged at 926 to 1205°C.
